I have always been and will always be advocate for adding a good piece of artwork to personalise and finish off your room. Prints are a great way of styling your home. Owning an original canvas takes your space to a new dimension. It’s bold. It’s different. And it’s something no one else has. Artwork is personal to you and can create and evoke emotions that adds to your room. A piece of art work speaks to you and your personality. It may be stamping a monumental event, a celebration or serve as reminder of part of your history. It is a part of your story.
Artwork After Thought?
I often find that when designing a space the first thing that gets cut when trying to save is the artwork. I think its a shame. Artwork should be seen as a part of the design. Not always just an after thought of once the room is finished. Whether its an abstract painting or a landscape its adds more than just something “pretty” on a wall. It adds value too. Maybe not millionaire you can retire value. (Although that can happen!) But also an emotional and feeling for you that as bonus completes your space.
Artsy is a great for finding original paintings, prints and sculpture. Its a great source for inspiration too if you still trying figure out your style or are working your way up to a bigger piece. find a style of art that you like and will work for your space. Artsy gives you latest updates in artwork and artists around the world. Find out what fairs and galleries are in your local area. Or if you’re travelling you can check out what’s happening at the time. It’s especially great if you haven’t the time to go to shows and source paintings yourself. I subscribed to Artsy a while back so I receive updates of all my favourite artists on work that becomes available. And any new and upcoming artists that might have a similar style to other artists I like.
With maximalism interiors taking more of a lead in recent times a unique painting is going to stand out. Buy art work online or you can contact the galleries directly. There are bidding auctions that take place too. From new upcoming artists to the superstars of the art world. Including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Alphonse Mucha, Klimt, Gabriel Moreno (some of my favourites). And other artists like Warhol, Lichenstein, Hirst, Banksy and many more. As well as trending upcoming artists such as Sean Christopher Ward, his work came up in my newsletter and I really like his style. Ultimately a good piece of art work is not how much you pay for it.
