Back at the beginning of June the Canadian Furniture Show took place and was open to the public for the first time!
So many companies from around Canada came to the down to the International Centre in Toronto to display new furniture and products. I went down to have a look over a couple of days. (Trying to make sure I got round the whole exhibition!). I love to see what’s going on and what new furniture products the exhibitors are really excited about. And of course I like to pick out my own favourites! Whether you’re a designer or looking for some inspiration for your own home going to shows like this you can obviously buy some great things and pick up some great ideas. You get to actually see, touch and also get a better idea of the scale and the materials to work with.
On the last day of the show, the Sunday the doors were open to the public. It seemed like it was an underground secret because the people I happen to speak with had heard about it last minute so decided to come down. Keep a look out for next time! If you’re a regular with HGTV then I’m sure you’ll hear about it before hand. Featured were a couple of design guest speakers discussing the latest design trends. Karen Sealy and Steven & Chris. I managed to catch the Karen Sealy talk which was great. She touched on the design trends for this year. I think it’s good to know what’s in style but not to go overboard with it. Like what you like and mix it up. Some of the styles mentioned were mid modern century, mixed metallics, reclaimed wood, colour and of course black (which just as in the fashion industry will always be classic).
I’ve taken some pictures of the things that caught my eye whether an individual piece or an overall look put together for the show. Let me know which ones are your favourite. The names of the exhibitors are still listed on the Canadian Furniture Show website, a lot of them of them who will be exhibiting again next year. Zuo Modern as usual had some great pieces in the pictures above. And I was loving the lighting from CDI Furniture pictured below, modern and elegant. Gorgeous!
Hope to see you there next year!
