The AGO is getting an Infinity Room. After the success of Infinity Mirrors, the Art Gallery of Ontario is now recipient of their very own permanent Infinity Room. Kusama’s mirrored room, Let’s Survive Forever will be added to the AGO’s collection in May. The infinity room will feature mirrored spheres and orbs suspended from the ceiling enclosed in the mirrored room. An installation similar to her outdoor Narcissus Garden. In which she sold the spheres off to promote her work, back in 1966.

The hugely popular Infinity Mirrors came to Toronto just over a year ago. Causing days upon days of sold out tickets and huge waiting lists. Yayoi Kusama’s immersive and imaginative exhibition takes you to another world. As did all of her incredible infinity rooms. Instagram was alight with infinity hashtags and photos of Kusama’s never ending worlds. Kind of ironic as her new room seems to play on the theme of self obsession. Because let’s face it, you have to be in the photo too. You know, Instagram, Snap Chat and just selfies in general. With a room full of mirrored spheres it’s a perfect opportunity. And yes, I was that person in snapping away in the mirrors at the show last year! How could I not?!
Here’s a few more photos from last year’s art show Infinity Mirrors…

Yayoi Kusama’s Let’s Live Forever opens the 25th May. The contemporary Japanese artist has a dedicated museum in her homeland. If you’ve had a chance to see Kusama’s work let me know what you think in the comments below!
