A couple of months back on my Instagram I posted an inspiration shot of the retail space Wilfred that recently opened. I loved how the space was designed and styled and thought it could serve as inspiration for a space at home. So I put together some décor pieces that would I felt give a similar style and vibe. Decide on what scale you need to be working with.
1. Lighting
The main feature, the gorgeous light is the Rudi Pendant light by Canadian designer Lukas Peet. It’s available in different sizes and also a double version, the Double Rudi Loop Pendant. Ultra modern, sleek and cool.
2. Picture Frames
Neutral and metallic frames. White and gold to tie in with the scheme. Both the ones I chose are from Zara Home. A gold rimmed frame and a white enamel frame.
3. Panelling
You can either go all out with the real wood paneling or you can opt for a wall covering which gives a similar look with less effort and a fraction of the cost.
4. Shelves
Floating shelves that match the colour of the walls for a simplified look. If you choose a wall covering for the wall you could use that the same covering to wrap the shelf with or sand and stain the wood.
5. Brass Accessories
Accessorise with brass. In the original photo the gold coloured garment rails stand out against the wooden walls. Decorate and style with objects that say something to you. I picked out a brass tray and this cute tortoise piece. Since I last checked both items are sold out! (You can see why I picked them). But in case they pop up again the tray was H&M Home and the tortoise from Zara Home.
6. Floor Easel
A more flexible way to display some of your favourite artwork. Put the easel in different room and change up the artwork and it’s a whole new look and a different feel.
7. Plants
A bit of life indoors! A nice potted plant, real or fake I guess it depends how green fingered or lazy you are! The ones I found are artificial plants a Silver Nerve and a Bamboo.
8. Marble Table
A classic table top finish to centre under the pendant light. Here a couple of options that I found, a couple of round table tops and an interesting triangular coffee table.
9. Mid Modern Century Chair
Still a really popular look and always in style. These are a couple of chairs I picked out, the second the one being the Herman Miller Twist Chair Cut Out.
10. Tray
Trays, decorative and functional. The same way Wilfred had theirs used as a way to present their accessories product you can also use to show off your favourite items. I picked out a traditional vintage tray and some pretty gold mesh trays (these ones would be more for decorative use).
11. Woven Bench
I love the bench shown in the Wilfred store but I found a better one! Originally designed by Mel Smilow this woven bench has been recreated in a walnut wood. You can see the quality from the picture!
I hope you enjoyed this month’s retail inspiration, let me know what you think. Do you like the way Wilfred has styled their space? And if there are any places you think I should check out for inspiration let me know or you can send me some pictures! You can check out more of more retail inspirations here.
