It’s that time when we look to see what’s happening in the design world. What’s going to be the popular interior trends for 2025? This isn’t about changing your home to jump on any of the trends. It’s just what you’re more likely to see going into the new year on socials, magazines, and home retail. Some you’ll love and some you won’t!

Here are some of the interior trend predictions…

Saturated Moody Colours

There’s noticeably been a shift into coziness. This has been seen through using warm textures and layering materials. But for 2025 saturated and moody colours are the way to evoke this sense of coziness in a space—moody purples, reds and deep berry tones, chocolate browns, and earthy greens too.

Colour company Benjamin Moore’s colour is Cinnamon Slate described as a mix of heathered plum and velvety brown. Rumors is Behr’s paint colour for 2025 a deep reddish brown.

Moody colours create a sense of intimacy and warmth. It’s sophisticated and timeless. When the whole room is painted in one darker colour it makes the room feel larger because of the depth of colour used.

This trend is all about “go big” or “go home” as it’s about the impact the colour brings to the space. No accent walls when it comes to this look!

Mid-Wood Tones

The mid-wood tones tie into the colour trend for 2025. Shying away from light wood back to natural mid-wood tones such as walnut, mahogany teak, and similar wood finishes. These are warm wood finishes that are richer and pair nicely with the warmer paint colours that we’ll be seeing more of next year.

Tiling

Stones like marble have been everywhere in design over the last few years. But we’re swinging into a tile era now. It doesn’t matter what kind of tile is used. From neutrals or bright-coloured finger tiles to graphic square tiles. The larger the surface area of the tiling the better.

And it’s not just for bathrooms and kitchens, we’re seeing it being used in unexpected places like the bedroom too. Something new and exciting!

Glass Blocks

I never thought that glass blocks would be making a comeback! But here we are using glass blocks for room divider walls in rooms and feature pieces in architecture. Glass blocks are great for zoning off areas and letting light flow through space. Textured and patterned glass blocks are great to add into the feature too.

Architectural Details

I’ve always thought it a crime to cover up or remove original period details from a home like ceiling moldings, trims, and ceiling medallions. Those are the kind of details you can’t be replaced but they can be imitated. It’s classic, beautiful, and adds elegance to the room.

English Victorian and Parisian ornate detailings and other decorative plaster finishes in room interiors will be more popular next year. Details like these will always be timeless and it turns a plain surface into an area with depth and interest.

Free Standing Bath Tubs

We’ve been in love with self-care for the past few years. And that’s been noticeable in the way our bathrooms are being designed. Free-standing bathtubs and wet rooms are now what you’ll find in homes and not just when you’re out for a spa day.

These luxury goods are now seen as the new normal as part of our self-care and daily routines. There’s been an increase in home saunas too. We’re taking our self-care very seriously and it shows in our bathroom designs.

Copper Finishes

I love gold accents around the home, but next year the design world is taking it up a notch in colour with copper. You’ll be seeing a lot more copper finishes in home decor retail.

Cooper is rich and adds an extra level of depth and warmth to gold. And this copper trend ties in with the other warmer mid-tones we’ll be seeing in colour and wood finishes.

Authentic Materials

This trend is one we’ve seen popping up again and again. And I don’t think it’s going anywhere soon. Real, authentic materials. Anything from ceramics and stones to woods, leathers, and linens. It’s about getting as close to nature as we can while inside our homes.

And if it’s repurposed piece that’s a plus. Sustainability is also an important factor that is going nowhere. Interior styles like Japandi lean into this thinking of honest materials and sustainability when possible.

Soft Curves

Curves have been making a wave back into the design world for a while now. And curves will still be staying around for interiors in 2025. Arches and curves will be seen in furniture and permanent settings of the home. arched cabinets and doorways to oblong mirrors, rounded tables, and cozy curved sinkable sofas.

Rounded furniture and curves are a plus in a family space with young children. But regardless, curves give a smooth, and organic luxe look that works in any space to soften the look of the room. (Instagram slide no. 6)

Bold Metallics

I mentioned copper in the list before but metallics all around are coming in a big way. I’m not talking about little accents, and mixing metals although those styles still apply. Think metallics in a new way big statement pieces that stand out.

From metallic-covered cabinets and even metallic sofas. Big items in metallic finishes give a luxe, bold, and dramatic feel. Silver, gold, and copper finishes are going to be the star of the room. Literally!

Those are the interior trends to watch out for in 2025! What do you think about them?
