Pinterest is a great tool for inspiration for around the home. I’m a huge Pinterest fan if you couldn’t already tell from all the Pinterest roundups on the blog! So when Pinterest announced their try on home decor feature I was totally excited!

And you should be too! Why…?

Pinterest Try On Home Decor

The try on feature from Pinterest started out with makeup and beauty. But now Pinterest has expanded the try on feature to home decor. Which totally makes sense! As so many big ticket items for the home are available only online it’s a good idea to get a sense of how the piece looks in the space.

So many of us go straight to Pinterest for ideas and inspiration for our homes. For shopping furniture only to seeking inspiration for a full room. This AR try on home feature helps bring it all together. From inspiration, to a virtual shopping experience to reality.

A typical problem that usually arises when designing a room and shopping online, is you’re not able to see the actual product. And that’s exactly why Pinterest have this new AR (augmented reality) feature.

If you want idea of how that chair is going to look in your room, then the Pinterest feature is great.

You can basically take a snap shot of your room with your phone. And with Pinterest’s lens technology drop desired item from Pinterest into that snapshot. Giving you different options and furniture placements you’re able to try.

It’s one step closer to seeing how that piece of furniture will look in your home. This gives you options on styling and decorating for your home. Without you having to fork out your money first. Also without having to deliver and return items back and forth quite so often.

Virtually try before you buy!

Companies On Board With Pinterest AR Feature

Pinterest has more than 80,000 shoppable pins in the home decor category. Which means a lot of options compared to the beauty category of 14,000 shoppable pins. Which is telling to how much we jump to Pinterest for our homes!

The feature is live in the United States. With major retail companies like Crate & Barrel, CB2, West Elm, Walmart and Wayfair on board. Pinterest’s try on home decor will be rolling out globally in the future. I’m sure other companies will be jumping aboard as well!
